in high school i went on a trip to washington d.c. while there we went to the holocaust museum, which was fairly new back then. it's a museum dedicated to sharing the stories of the holocaust victims and survivors. it was a very moving visit, and included a bunch of interesting information on what happened. what sticks with me the most was the display of hitler's plans for holding the olympics in germany and showing the domination of the aryan race. one shocking picture that i remember vividly from that trip was a photo of a huge pile of shoes that were taken from every jew who was entered into the prison camps.this was a little 'identification card' that shared the story of an individual who did not survive the concentration camps.
